Ingrid Bauer, a 66-year-old woman from Tiny Township, Ontario, was last seen on the evening of Saturday, June 8, 2024, in the Perkinsfield area. Concern for her well-being mounted after she missed a planned engagement and her dog was discovered by a neighbour, wandering alone with blood on it. This was described as being entirely out of character for the devoted pet owner. Adding to the distress, her vehicle, a blue 2018 Kia Soul, was also absent from her residence, prompting family and friends to report her missing and igniting a comprehensive investigation into her sudden and mysterious disappearance. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated an extensive search operation, deploying canine units, helicopters, and an underwater search and recovery team to scour the region surrounding her home. The investigation took a significant turn when her abandoned Kia Soul was located in a rural, wooded area in Penetanguishene, approximately 20 kilometers from where she lived. This discovery led investigators to believe that foul play was a factor in her case. The OPP's Criminal Investigation Branch subsequently took carriage of the investigation, treating her disappearance as a homicide. Authorities made public appeals, asking for any information or video surveillance footage that could help create a timeline of events leading up to when she was last seen. In a major development, the investigation led to the identification and arrest of a suspect. On August 23, 2024, the OPP charged 34-year-old Daniel Labelle, also of Tiny Township, with first-degree murder in connection with Ingrid Bauer's death. At the time the charges were laid, her remains had not yet been recovered. The relationship between Bauer and the accused was not disclosed by law enforcement. The overview of this case is one of a deeply unsettling disappearance that began with the concerning discovery of an injured pet, which was uncharacteristic of its loving owner.
