In the spring of 2019, Corey Robert Fraser Baldwin, a 42-year-old man from Greely, Ontario, vanished. The last confirmed contact anyone had with him was a phone conversation with his father in mid-April of that year. Following that call, a concerning silence fell. Months passed without a word, which was deeply uncharacteristic for the devoted father of two young children. His family, especially his father, grew increasingly worried. The alarm was officially raised in December 2019 when, after being told Corey would not be home for the holidays, his father reported him missing to the Ottawa Police. At the time of his disappearance, Corey was described as being 5'10" with a muscular build of around 230 pounds, a shaved head, and grey-blue eyes. He was easily identifiable by numerous tattoos on his arms, back, and calf. The circumstances surrounding Corey's disappearance were puzzling for both his loved ones and investigators. He had reportedly told some that he was leaving town for work, but police found no evidence to suggest he ever left. Adding to the mystery, two of his trucks were left behind, though his phone and wallet were nowhere to be found. The investigation initially explored the possibility that Corey might have traveled to the Montreal area or even to British Columbia. His family remained adamant that he would never voluntarily abandon his children, to whom he was very close. The months stretched into years, with his family left in a painful state of limbo, desperate for answers about what had happened to him. After an extensive and years-long investigation, the Ottawa Police Service announced a grim conclusion: they had gathered enough evidence to believe that Corey Baldwin had been the victim of a homicide. Despite this belief, his remains had not been located, deepening the anguish for his family. In an effort to generate new leads, authorities offered a substantial $75,000 reward for information that could lead to an arrest and conviction in his murder. A significant development occurred in November 2025, when the remains of an adult male were discovered in an area just north of Greely, a short distance from where Corey was last seen. As of early 2026, investigators are awaiting the results of DNA analysis to determine if the remains are those of Corey Baldwin. The case officially transitioned from a missing person's investigation to a homicide, but for Corey's two daughters and the rest of his family, the wait for definitive closure continues as they hope for answers that will finally bring him home.
