In the early summer of 1975, a young man named Edward Joseph Arcand vanished from the small mountain town of Coleman, Alberta, leaving behind a mystery that has endured for decades. On June 8, 1975, the 27-year-old Indigenous man left his home, driving his 1969 Ford Falcon station wagon. At the time of his disappearance, he was described as being 5'8" tall and weighing 139 pounds, with a medium build, short black hair, and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a red shirt, blue denim jeans, and a blue denim jacket. His family and friends never saw him again, and what began as a routine departure soon turned into a perplexing missing person case. A significant development in the case came about a week after Edward was last seen. Around June 15, 1975, his station wagon was discovered abandoned approximately 80 kilometers north of Coleman. The vehicle was located along Highway 940, a remote forestry road that winds through the rugged foothills. There was no sign of Edward Arcand near the car, nor was there any indication of a vehicle breakdown or a struggle. The discovery of his deserted vehicle only deepened the concern for his welfare and left investigators with few clues as to where he might have gone after leaving the car. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance were puzzling, with no clear reason for him to have vanished. Over the years, the investigation into Edward Joseph Arcand's disappearance has continued, though answers remain elusive. Distinguishing features noted by authorities included a hernia scar on his lower abdomen and specific dental details, including several missing teeth and some with temporary fillings. At one point, investigators considered a possible link to an unidentified deceased man found in a septic tank near Tofield, Alberta, in 1977, known as "Septic Tank Sam." However, dental records did not match, and Edward was officially ruled out as being the unidentified man.
