The disappearance of Tomas Stundzia, a 48-year-old father from Buffalo Grove, Illinois, has left his family and friends in a state of distressing uncertainty. Stundzia was last seen in his village on December 7, 2025. The last known contact with him was a text message sent around 5 p.m. on that day. Concern grew when he could not be reached, and it was discovered that he was missing. Stundzia is described as being 6-foot-1, weighing 210 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. At the time of his disappearance, he was believed to be wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. His friends and the local community have been desperately seeking answers, pleading for any information that might shed light on his whereabouts.
The search for Tomas Stundzia began after his gray 2019 Toyota 4Runner was located. Toll records indicated that his vehicle had been traveling northbound on Interstate 94 near Wadsworth on the morning of his disappearance. A friend later discovered the unoccupied and locked car at North Point Marina in Winthrop Harbor. This discovery was puzzling as Stundzia, an avid fisherman who kept his boat at the marina, had not accessed his boat in approximately two weeks, according to the storage owner. The Buffalo Grove Police Department, working in conjunction with the Winthrop Harbor police, launched an investigation. Despite their efforts, which included the use of K9 units, drones, and personnel to search the area, no trace of Stundzia was found. His cell phone and wallet were also missing, and there had been no activity on his credit cards.
As the investigation unfolded, it was determined that Stundzia's cell phone's last location was at the marina on the morning of December 8, 2025, after which there was no further activity. The lack of evidence of any danger or self-harm has been a significant challenge for law enforcement. Compounding the difficulty, it was reported that there were no working surveillance cameras in the vicinity of the marina at the time of his disappearance. Friends and members of Salmon Unlimited Inc., a conservation organization Stundzia was a part of, conducted their own extensive searches of the area but found no clues. The case remains a painful mystery for his loved ones, including his daughter who lives out of the country. The absence of any contact with family, his girlfriend, or friends has only deepened the concern and the plea for anyone who might have been at the marina or traveling on I-94 on the day he vanished to come forward with any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem.
