In the winter of 2025, a 19-year-old man named Elijah Wade Andrews vanished from Mesa, Arizona, leaving his family and community enveloped in a state of concern. On December 17, 2025, Elijah was last seen by his family in the area of the 1000 block of East Oak Street, which falls within the boundaries of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. At the time of his disappearance, he was described as being quiet and not engaging in conversation with anyone. He was last seen walking near his residence wearing a grey shirt, a black hoodie, black pants, and black and white shoes. Elijah is an enrolled member of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. Elijah has several distinct physical characteristics that his family hoped would aid in his identification. He has a scar on the left side of his chin and another long scar that runs from his left ear to his right ear. Additionally, he has tattoos, including the words "east side" on the right side of his neck and a "P" with a crown underneath his left eye. At the time he went missing, he had thick, dark brown hair with bangs that reached the middle of his forehead and brown eyes. Reports also noted a scar on his jaw from a previous gunshot wound, which may have caused his speech to be muffled. The days following Elijah's disappearance turned into weeks, and then months, with no sign of his whereabouts. His mother, Ariel Antone, has spoken publicly about the ongoing search for her son, expressing that she will never give up hope. The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community has held events to raise awareness for missing and murdered Indigenous people, where Elijah's case has been highlighted. The Salt River Police Department is investigating his disappearance and has asked for anyone with information to come forward. The case of Elijah Wade Andrews is a somber reminder of the ongoing crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous people, and his family and community continue to hold out for answers.
