On March 9, 2017, a 24-year-old woman named Delecia Annette Waddy vanished from Doswell, Virginia, leaving behind a series of perplexing clues. Earlier that day, at around 9:30 a.m., she was seen on surveillance footage at the Newbridge Village Apartments in Richmond before driving off in her silver Ford Explorer. By 11:30 a.m., Delecia was at the Kings Dominion Camp Wilderness Campground, approximately 30 miles away. There, she attempted to negotiate the rental price for a cabin but left abruptly when she couldn't reach an agreement with the staff. Instead of getting back into her vehicle, Delecia was last seen walking away from the campground, heading east on Route 30 in the direction of Caroline County. She was wearing a black and white tank top or halter top, black pants with a white stripe, a multicolored baseball cap, and was barefoot. The day after Delecia was last seen, her silver Ford Explorer was found abandoned near the campground in Hanover, Virginia. The vehicle was in working order and still had gasoline. A short distance away, scattered behind the Meadow Event Park, searchers discovered a collection of her personal items, including her purse, wallet, driver's license, and cell phone. An extensive search was launched by a joint effort of law enforcement agencies, utilizing helicopters, ATVs, boats, and search dogs. The search efforts were complicated by conflicting witness reports. Some witnesses reported seeing a woman matching Delecia's description walking barefoot in a field off Route 30 in Caroline County. Search dogs reportedly tracked her scent to a residence in Caroline County, but this lead did not yield further answers. Adding to the confusion, an acquaintance reported seeing Delecia on Fendall Avenue in Richmond on March 12, three days after her disappearance, but did not realize she was considered a missing person at the time. Delecia’s family was deeply concerned by her sudden and uncharacteristic disappearance. Her mother described her daughter's behavior as "bizarre" and stated that she had never been out of contact with her family for such an extended period. Her family fears she may have been abducted, as it was not in her character to walk away from her life. Before she vanished, Delecia had posted a message on her Facebook page that read, "Its never too late to do the right thing. Don't get discouraged. (Speaking to myself also)". The meaning of this post and whether it is connected to her disappearance remains unclear. Since that day, there has been no activity on her bank accounts or social media profiles. The case of Delecia Annette Waddy is a perplexing mystery that has left her family searching for answers and law enforcement with a trail of confusing leads. Despite the initial search and reported sightings, her whereabouts remain unknown, and her case is an unsolved missing person investigation.
