In the early morning hours of February 10, 2013, 25-year-old Deonta Lee Harrison was with a group of friends in Petersburg, Virginia. He had arranged to meet them in the 500 block of south Dunlop Street to give them a dirt bike. After this meeting, Deonta was never heard from or seen again. At the time of his disappearance, he was described as a Black male, standing at 6'1" and weighing 163 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a black shirt, blue jeans, and gray or blue coveralls. A notable distinguishing feature is a tattoo on his right arm of the name "BRITTANY" with a brick design around it. Deonta, known to his loved ones as "Freaky D," was the fourth of five children and resided in the 20100 block of Bollinger Court at the time he went missing. His disappearance left a void in the lives of his family and friends, who were left with agonizing questions and very few answers. The circumstances surrounding his vanishing were perplexing to those who knew him. Despite the fact that there were outstanding warrants for his arrest in multiple counties, the complete and total silence from him was uncharacteristic and alarming to his family. As years passed without any sign of Deonta or any credible leads to his whereabouts, his family's hope of his safe return began to fade. In 2015, two years after he was last seen, his family made the difficult decision to hold a memorial service in his honor, a testament to their belief that he was no longer alive. This service provided a space for friends and family to grieve and remember the man they loved. Although his family has come to a painful acceptance, the case of Deonta Lee Harrison's disappearance officially remains unsolved. The lack of resolution means that while his family has mourned, the full story of what happened in the early hours of that February day remains an unanswered question for investigators and a source of enduring pain for his community.
