Juan Rafael Neciosup, a 34-year-old used car salesman, was last seen on November 18, 2001, in Houston, Texas. A friend dropped him off at a Kroger supermarket in the 200 block of West Greens Road at approximately 9:45 p.m. He has not been seen or heard from since that evening. Worryingly, three weeks passed before he was officially reported as a missing person.
At the time of his disappearance, Neciosup had a previous conviction for driving under the influence in 1995 but no other criminal record.
Neciosup's disappearance is intrinsically linked to the unsolved vanishing of his former live-in girlfriend, Linda Reategui, which occurred almost a year prior. Reategui was last seen at her apartment on November 26, 2000. The day after she was last seen, neighbors reported a domestic disturbance at her residence. When police responded, Reategui was gone. The circumstances surrounding her disappearance grew more suspicious when, a day later, witnesses observed two unidentified middle-aged women cleaning her apartment. The building's management confirmed that these women were not part of their regular cleaning staff and that they had not dispatched anyone to the apartment. On that same day, a worker from a glass company was also seen repairing a broken window at Reategui's apartment.
Following Reategui's disappearance, her neighbors saw Neciosup at the apartment, leading them to believe he had arranged for the cleaning. When questioned by police, Neciosup denied knowing anything about Reategui's whereabouts, stating only that she had planned to return to her home country of Peru. It was confirmed that Reategui, a Peruvian national like Neciosup, had booked a Continental Airlines flight to Peru but never boarded the plane. Shortly after his police interview, Neciosup himself vanished.
Authorities have stated that Neciosup is wanted for further questioning in connection with Reategui's case. It is also noted that the father of Reategui's daughter is considered a person of some importance in Peru.
