Cynthia Laura Castellano, a 25-year-old mother of two, was last seen on May 19, 2002, in Laredo, Texas. At the time of her disappearance, she resided in the 1500 block of Serene Drive with her common-law husband, Rolando Rubio, and their two young daughters, who were one and three years old. Castellano was a 1995 graduate of Nixon High School and had previously worked as a teacher's aide at Lamar Middle School.
Her family describes her as a devoted mother and does not believe she would have willingly abandoned her children.
On the day she went missing, Castellano's common-law husband informed her parents that she had left their home following an argument they had. She has not been seen or heard from since. When she was last seen, she was reportedly wearing a red t-shirt, black shorts, and no shoes. Castellano has several distinguishing tattoos, including a Playboy bunny with the name "Cindy" on the right side of her chest and the name "Roland" on her back.
Authorities have investigated her disappearance, and while foul play is considered a possibility, the lack of evidence has led to her case being classified as a missing person investigation. Her common-law husband, Rolando Rubio, was questioned by police but is not considered a suspect in her case. A month after she vanished, law enforcement conducted a search of a water retention pond at the San Isidro Ranch off of McPherson Road, but the search yielded no results. Over the years, her family has received prank calls with false claims of sightings, adding to their distress.
