In the autumn of 2001, an 85-year-old man named Reverend LeRoy Butler disappeared while on his way home to Memphis, Tennessee. On October 30, 2001, Butler was traveling from Arkansas and spoke to his wife on the phone, during which he seemed disoriented. He never arrived at his residence, and no one has reported hearing from him since that day. At the time he went missing, there was concern that he may have been in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease. Butler was a Black male, standing at 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 190 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes. He was known to wear eyeglasses and had a small scar on the right side of his neck. When he was last seen, Butler was dressed in a gray wool suit with a lavender shirt and a matching tie. He also wore black Stacy Adams shoes and black socks. He had several distinctive pieces of jewelry on, including a gold and diamond wedding band, a second plain gold band, a white gold Masonic ring with a diamond, and a gold watch. His vehicle was discovered abandoned in a field in Bolivar, Tennessee, two days after he was reported missing, adding another layer of concern to his case. The circumstances surrounding Reverend LeRoy Butler's disappearance have remained largely unknown for years. Despite the passage of time, his case is still considered an endangered missing person case. Cell phone records reportedly indicated his phone was later in the vicinity of Birmingham, Alabama, though this did not lead to his discovery.
