In the late winter of 2000, a sense of unease settled over the life of 37-year-old Lisa Alaria Szasz-Lazzaro. A mother of two, Lisa confided in those close to her that she had been feeling as though she were being stalked, a chilling premonition to the events that would soon unfold. On March 23, 2000, Lisa was last seen in the area of Andover, Ohio. At the time of her disappearance, she was described as a Caucasian female with black hair and hazel eyes, standing between 5'5" and 5'7" tall and weighing around 135 pounds. When she was last seen, she was wearing a light blue jacket, jeans, a wedding ring, a necklace with a cross pendant, and multiple bracelets. Her ears were pierced. The day after Lisa was last seen, a discovery was made that deepened the mystery surrounding her vanishing. Her white Chevrolet Blazer was found abandoned in a no-parking zone at the Youngstown-Warren Airport in Vienna Township, Ohio, a location approximately 30 miles from where she was last reported being seen. Adding to the ominous nature of the scene, the keys to the vehicle were still in the ignition. There was no sign of Lisa at the location, nor any immediate clues to explain her whereabouts or the circumstances that led to her car being left in such a manner. It wasn't until March 27, four days after she was last seen, that her concerned parents officially reported her as a missing person to the Ashtabula County Sheriff's Department. The investigation into Lisa's disappearance has been met with few leads and a scarcity of public information over the years. It is known that in the years leading up to her disappearance, Lisa had faced some legal challenges, including convictions for breaking and entering and passing bad checks, which resulted in probation and community control sanctions. Shortly before she went missing, she had been dealing with a probation violation and a separate charge of child endangerment. Despite these personal struggles, the unsettling feeling of being stalked that she reported before she vanished looms large over her case. The discovery of her abandoned vehicle with the keys inside at an airport remains a perplexing and central piece of the puzzle. The case of Lisa Alaria Szasz-Lazzaro is an overview of a woman who disappeared under troubling and mysterious circumstances, leaving behind a family and a community with unanswered questions. Her case remains an active and unsolved missing person investigation.
