In the early summer of 2001, life for Tracy Marie Evans Hill, a student at Kent State University's Salem campus, took an unforeseen and alarming turn. She had been working at a temporary job for only six weeks at a machine shop called Duo Corp in North Lima, Ohio. On June 7th, she went to her job as usual, but what followed was a series of events that would leave her family with unanswered questions for years to come. The day after she was last seen at work, a woman identifying herself as Tracy called in to report that she would be absent. That phone call would be the last known communication from anyone claiming to be her. Her family, growing increasingly concerned after not hearing from her, officially reported her missing on June 17th, a full ten days after she was last physically seen. Their concern was amplified when they received a call from a college official about her prolonged absence from classes. The family's subsequent search of her mobile home revealed a chilling scene. Almost all of her personal belongings were still inside her residence, including her clothing, makeup, jewelry, and even her contact lenses. The only significant item that appeared to be missing was her purse. An unsettling detail that stood out to her family was a stack of dirty dishes on the table, a sight they described as being entirely out of character for the typically neat Tracy. Shortly after she was reported missing, her car was discovered in a parking lot, but the discovery brought no solace. There was no sign of Tracy at the scene, and a search of the vehicle yielded no evidence to illuminate her whereabouts or what might have happened to her. At the time of her disappearance, Tracy was separated from her husband. The day before she was last seen, she had been granted a protection order against him. Following her disappearance, her estranged husband was arrested and charged with the unauthorized use of her vehicle, though he denied knowing her whereabouts. While he was convicted on that charge and other unrelated offenses, no arrests have ever been in connection with Tracy's disappearance. Law enforcement has conducted numerous searches over the years, but their efforts have not led to any breakthroughs in the case. Foul play is suspected in her disappearance due to the circumstances and the fact that she has not contacted anyone since that last mysterious phone call. The case remains a painful and unresolved mystery for her loved ones, who are left to wonder what became of Tracy after she vanished.
