He was picked up in the area of Upper Second Avenue in the city's South End and has not been heard from since. At the time of his disappearance, Young was residing with relatives on Livingston Avenue, between Lark and Swan streets. His disappearance is considered uncharacteristic, as he was known to be in frequent contact with his children, calling them multiple times a day.
The circumstances surrounding Young's disappearance have led authorities to suspect that foul play may be involved. His brother, Henry Young, also suspects foul play and has stated that Dariel was a "homebody" who was always working. A week before he went missing, Young had met with some individuals to do a favor, and his brother believes "something went wrong" during that encounter. The night he vanished, one of those individuals picked him up. While police have spoken with the people involved, no arrests have been made.
At the time of his disappearance, Dariel Young was described as a Black male, 5'4" tall, and weighing around 150 pounds. He was bald with brown eyes and had a grey beard. He was last seen wearing a grey hoodie, red sweatpants, and a grey hat. The Albany Police Department has investigated his disappearance, and a cash reward has been offered for information leading to his whereabouts through Capital Region Crime Stoppers.
