Six-year-old Deklon Ford and his mother, Brittany, have been missing since May 2015. Their last known location was in the vicinity of Hardin, Montana. The pair, originally from Columbus, Ohio, were traveling in a white 2007 Nissan Versa with Georgia license plate number BUG 16859. The circumstances leading to their disappearance began in mid-April 2015 when Brittany, then living with Deklon's father in Georgia, contacted police alleging abuse against her son.
Advised to stay elsewhere for the night, she instead drove to her mother's home in Ohio.
Upon her arrival in Ohio, Brittany's behavior raised concerns among her family. She made claims that the government was after her and accused her stepfather of abuse. Her mother and brother, believing she was experiencing a mental health crisis, took her to a local hospital where she was admitted to the psychiatric ward. After a three-day stay, Brittany was released on April 19 and went to live with her brother. A few days later, she and Deklon vanished, with Brittany having told her brother she was going out for food. Her family officially reported them missing on May 7.
Following their disappearance, there were a few signs of their whereabouts. On May 14, a police officer in Indiana assisted Brittany with a flat tire. Two days later, on May 16, she contacted her brother from Iowa, requesting $10,000. The final trace of their journey came on May 17, when their Nissan Versa was found abandoned on the side of a highway between Billings, Montana, and Sheridan, Wyoming. All of their personal belongings, including Brittany's medication and Deklon's car seat, were discovered inside the vehicle.
There has been no contact from Brittany nor any sightings of her or Deklon since the discovery of their abandoned car. The reasons for their disappearance remain unclear. The Columbus, Ohio Police Department is handling the investigation into their case.Last Seen: May 17, 2015
