In the late summer of 2000, a sense of profound loss descended upon a family in Neosho, Missouri, when 78-year-old Robert C. Putman vanished from his home. On August 3rd of that year, Mr. Putman, a man known to enjoy quiet walks near his family's farm on Tower Road, was last seen strolling less than half a mile east of the property.
