In November of 2015, the family of 32-year-old Kenneth Wayne Cole initiated a missing person report, setting in motion a case that would remain unresolved for nearly seven years. The last time his family had any contact with him was on November 16, 2015. Just days later, on November 21, he was officially reported missing. At the time of his disappearance, Cole resided in Shreveport, Louisiana. Investigations revealed that he had future plans, which made his sudden silence all the more alarming to his loved ones. He had purchased a plane ticket with the intention of flying to Las Vegas on November 20, a flight he never boarded. Additionally, he had spoken of plans to relocate to Alaska to be with a friend, another journey he never began. The initial stages of the investigation yielded few clues for law enforcement. A significant, yet ultimately unhelpful, discovery was Cole's car, which was found abandoned at a Goodwill location on West 70th Street in Shreveport shortly after the missing person report was filed. Beyond that, the trail grew cold. Detectives noted that there were no immediate or obvious signs of foul play connected to his disappearance. Despite the efforts of the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office and the pleas of his family for any information regarding his whereabouts or his activities around the time he vanished, years passed without any substantial leads. His family and friends described him as a very loved person who was always happy and in a good mood, someone who would do anything for anybody, compounding the pain and mystery of his absence. The painful uncertainty for Kenneth Cole's family came to a somber end in August 2021. A passerby discovered a human skull in a wooded area in west Shreveport, off Financial Plaza Drive. Investigators and a cadaver dog thoroughly searched the vicinity but found no other remains. The skull was sent to a forensic anthropology lab for extensive examination. In February 2022, authorities announced the heartbreaking news. Through DNA analysis, the Caddo Parish Coroner's Office confirmed that the skull belonged to Kenneth Wayne Cole. After years of searching and hoping, the discovery confirmed that Kenneth Wayne Cole was deceased. However, the circumstances surrounding his death remain a mystery. With only partial remains found, a cause of death could not be determined. The case, which began with a man's perplexing failure to catch a planned flight, concluded with a grim discovery in a wooded area years later. The investigation into his disappearance transitioned into a death investigation, leaving his family with some answers but also with the enduring question of what happened to him in the final days of his life.
