On a deceptively mild December day in 2001, three Kansas State University students embarked on a sailing trip that would end in tragedy. Eighteen-year-old Christopher Nathan Shipley, along with his friends Kyle Chapman and Timothy Michael Bennett, decided to take advantage of the unseasonably warm weather and go sailing on Tuttle Creek Lake in Riley County, Kansas, after their classes on December 4th.
