Daniel Francis Yeigh, a 64-year-old man from Kooskia, Idaho, was last seen on August 11, 2023. At approximately 1:00 p.m., Yeigh was picking huckleberries about twenty feet off Forest Service Road 500, roughly 3.3 miles from Canyon Junction in Idaho County. He has not been seen or heard from since that time. When he failed to return home, he was reported missing to the Idaho County Sheriff's Office at around 11:00 p.m. that same day.
At the time of his disappearance, Yeigh was wearing blue Levi's jeans, a green shirt, and a camouflage-print hat. He also had a Folger's coffee can tied around his waist. Yeigh is described as a white male, standing at 6'0" and weighing 210 pounds, with gray hair.
An extensive search was launched for Daniel Yeigh, commencing the morning after he was reported missing. The search efforts involved approximately 45 ground searchers, five K9 units, a helicopter, and a drone. Multiple agencies assisted in the search, including the Latah County Sheriff's Office dog team, the Lewis County Sheriff's Office dog team, the Idaho County Sheriff's Office dog team, Grangeville Mountain Rescue, the Idaho County Posse, Idaho County Search and Rescue, the Idaho County Drone team, Two Bear Air, and the North Central Idaho Amateur Radio Club. Despite these exhaustive efforts, no clues or any indication of his whereabouts have been found.
