His older brother, who resides in Pennsylvania, reported him missing in March after not hearing from him for approximately four months. Upon visiting Mascaro's home in the 10800 block of southwest 80th Court, his brother discovered that about two weeks' worth of mail had accumulated in the mailbox.
Further investigation of the home revealed that Mascaro's car and bicycle were both located in the garage. Inside the residence, authorities found his keys, cell phone, driver's license, debit card, and cash. Neighbors reported having last seen Mascaro about two weeks prior to his brother's visit. Despite an extensive search of the surrounding areas, no clues to his whereabouts were found.
Mascaro was known to frequent the trails on the Greenway. His walking routes sometimes extended to the Pruitt Trailhead, the Ross Prairie State Forest, and Ocklawaha Prairie.
