Peiarre Lee Canty, a 33-year-old man from New Port Richey, Florida, has been missing since October 28, 2016. He was last seen at his home in the 4900 block of Cactus Drive around 5 p.m. Canty, who has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and is without his necessary medication, has no history of leaving without warning. At the time of his disappearance, he was reportedly wearing an orange t-shirt, blue jeans, and flip-flops.
His family is extremely concerned for his safety and has offered a $20,000 reward for information that leads to his location.
Canty is described as a Black male, 5'11" tall, and weighing around 130 pounds, with dark hair and brown eyes. He has several distinguishing characteristics, including a tattoo on his chest of praying hands with rosary beads, a scar on the back of one of his heels, and a noticeable shake in his left hand. Authorities believe he may be in the company of the homeless community and might be disoriented, possibly unaware of his identity or how to return home. There have been several potential sightings over the years in the New Port Richey and Tampa areas, including near Westshore Plaza, Kennedy Boulevard, Hyde Park, Bayshore, and Nebraska Avenue.
A significant development in the case occurred in 2018 when a man believed to be Canty was captured on video surveillance footage in Tampa. The video showed him wandering near the intersection of South Howard Avenue and West Swann Avenue. Both Canty's mother and sister identified him from the images. However, by the time police arrived at the location, the man was gone and has not been seen since. Another possible sighting was reported on November 10, 2016, also in Tampa, where surveillance video showed him wearing jeans with no shirt or shoes.
