Prateep Korsapati, a 26-year-old information technology professional from Roseville, California, was last seen on September 17, 2005, at Lake Tahoe, California. An Indian citizen, Korsapati was 5'10" and weighed approximately 160 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. At the time of his disappearance, he was reportedly wearing shorts, a t-shirt, jeans, a yellow raincoat, and an orange life vest.
On the day he went missing, Korsapati and two friends had rented a boat on Lake Tahoe. He was riding in an inflatable inner tube that was being towed by the boat when he fell into the water. Reports indicate that Korsapati was unable to swim and began to struggle in the water.
One of his friends jumped into the lake in an attempt to rescue him. By the time the friend reached him, Korsapati had reportedly lost consciousness. The friend tried to keep him afloat while the other friend maneuvered the boat toward them. However, the rescuer lost his grip, and Korsapati submerged beneath the water's surface. He has not been seen since. Despite search efforts, his body has never been recovered, and he is presumed to have drowned. The South Lake Tahoe Police Department is the reporting agency for this case.
