Tyler Garrett Hayden, a 25-year-old financial advisor, went missing on September 6, 2015, following a boating accident off the coast of Southern California. The incident occurred near Descanso Bay off Catalina Island when a dinghy he was in collided with a 17-foot vessel at approximately 1:15 a.m. While three other passengers were rescued, one person was killed in the collision, and Hayden was reported as missing.
