He maintained regular contact with his family, who knew him by his nickname "Alex." The last confirmed sighting of Gutierrez was on June 8, 2020, near South San Pedro Street in Los Angeles. His phone was disconnected on June 21, 2020, and he has not been heard from since.
At the time of his disappearance, Gutierrez was described as being 5'10" and weighing 155 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He has several distinguishing tattoos that could be used for identification. These include angel wings on his upper back with the words "Tia Miami" and the dates "1912-2009" between them, and the phrase "Only God Can Judge Me" on his lower back. He also has a cross with three banners and the word "FAITH" on his upper right arm, and on his side, banners with the names "Christian 1-15-73," "Giulianna 8-23-07," and "Jacob 6-8-05" above a cross that reads "Family." Additionally, Gutierrez has a tattoo of praying hands with a rosary and the phrases "11-30-1927 Yuyu 02-09-2012" and "Nunca te Olvidare" on his abdomen, as well as a scar on his forehead.
