In the small community of Anmoore, West Virginia, concern lingers over the disappearance of Carl Leon Nicholson, 58, who was last seen on December 23, 2022. The case took a troubling turn when, just a week later, on December 30, 2022, the vehicle he was believed to be driving, a silver 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, was discovered burned on Haymond Rocks Road in Mount Clare, a wooded area in Harrison County.

Nicholson is described as a white male, standing between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, and weighing between 140 and 150 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance are complicated by the fact that he is a wanted fugitive. The U.S. Marshals Service has indicated that he has a history of violent tendencies and should be considered dangerous. There are active warrants for his arrest related to failure to update his sex offender registration, sexual assault, and domestic violence.

Law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Service and the West Virginia State Police, have been actively investigating his whereabouts. Their investigation has revealed that in the five days leading up to his disappearance, Nicholson had traveled through several counties, including Randolph, Barbour, Upshur, Lewis, Taylor, and Harrison. Authorities have interviewed more than 60 of his known associates, friends, and family members, none of whom have reported seeing him since December 2022. While investigators believe it is possible that Nicholson may be deceased, his body has not been found.
