Tammy Lynn Farrell, a 32-year-old resident of Gridley, California, was last seen on October 27, 1993. On that day, she dropped off her two sons, aged twelve and fifteen, in Live Oak, California. Later, at approximately 7:00 p.m., she visited a friend's house and mentioned her intention to return to Live Oak to pick up her children shortly thereafter. However, Farrell never arrived to get her sons and has not been seen or heard from since. Her mother officially reported her missing the following day, October 28, 1993. It was considered uncharacteristic of Farrell to abandon her children or leave without any warning.
Four days later, on October 31, 1993, at around 9:40 p.m., Farrell's dark blue 1988 Ford Escort was discovered abandoned in a remote area of Oroville, California. The vehicle was found off of Lower French Creek Road, having been pushed over a ravine and settled in dense brush near the bottom of a canyon by Benny Creek. There were no skid marks at the scene, suggesting the car was deliberately pushed. The steering wheel of the Escort was bent forward, which led authorities to believe a driver may have been inside at the time it went over the ravine. The car's rear window was missing, and the windshield was cracked.
Prior to its discovery by law enforcement, Farrell's vehicle had been stripped by vandals, which complicated the investigation. It was unclear to investigators whether the vandals were responsible for pushing the car into the canyon or if other circumstances were at play. Despite a search of the area, no evidence of Farrell's whereabouts was found at the scene. At the time of her disappearance, Farrell was described as a white female with brown hair and brown eyes, standing 5'0" tall and weighing 230 pounds. She had a tattoo of the name "Ed" on one of her ankles and a tattoo of a daisy on one of her shoulders. She was wearing a wedding ring with three diamonds and another ring on her right hand. Her case remains unsolved.
