Fredia Louise Franks was a 44-year-old woman of biracial White and Native American descent, residing in Neosho, Missouri, in 2001. In August of that year, she embarked on a camping trip with her 42-year-old friend, Mark Terrell Walsh, and an 11-year-old girl, who was her daughter. They traveled in a 34-foot motor home, initially staying at a campground near Table Rock Lake in Arkansas, and it is believed they later moved to the Beaver Lake area in the northwest of the state.
