On March 13, 2023, 53-year-old Michael Shawn Owens was last seen by his father in Miami, Oklahoma. He was setting out for a court hearing scheduled in Harrisonville, Missouri, a journey that would take him across state lines. Owens, a military veteran and father, was reportedly driving a silver 2005 Ford F-250 Superduty Lariat.
