In the community of Cairo, Georgia, the disappearance of Michael 'Blaine' Oliver has left his family and local authorities with lingering questions. The last confirmed sighting of the 33-year-old was on June 24, 2025. On that day, deputies with the Grady County Sheriff's Office made contact with him near Lewis Road after receiving a report of a suspicious person in the area. Following this interaction, all communication from Oliver ceased.
Two days later, his family, alarmed by the uncharacteristic silence, reported him as a missing person. At the time he was last seen, Oliver, a white male standing six feet tall and weighing around 160 pounds, was reportedly wearing a white t-shirt or tank top and long red shorts. He is also identifiable by tattoos on his arms, neck, and face.
The initial search for Michael Blaine Oliver was launched by the Grady County Sheriff's Office. As the days turned into weeks with no sign of the missing man, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested to assist in the case on July 3, 2025. The investigation intensified, with multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Thomas County Sheriff's Office, Leon County Sheriff's Office, Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Suwannee County Sheriff's Office, and Decatur County Sheriff's Office, joining the efforts. As the investigation into Oliver's disappearance continued, a separate but related incident came to light. On July 31, 2025, Payton Marshburn was arrested following a traffic stop in Thomas County. Marshburn faced two felony warrants for an aggravated assault that allegedly occurred on June 23, 2025, in which he was accused of firing a weapon at Oliver. Authorities have stated that while Marshburn was charged in connection with the shooting, these charges are unrelated to Oliver's subsequent disappearance. The investigation into Michael Blaine Oliver's whereabouts remains active and ongoing.
