In the early spring of 2023, concern began to grow for 31-year-old Shariff Goldston, a resident of the Whitman Park neighborhood in Camden, New Jersey. He was last seen on March 1st of that year in the Bergen Square area. Shariff, who was also known by the nickname 'Pete,' had told a friend he would be back in a couple of minutes but never returned. Surveillance footage captured him walking back toward his friend's residence, but he walked out of the camera's view and was not seen or heard from again.

The Camden County Police Department was notified, and an investigation into his disappearance began. Shariff was described as a Black male with black hair and hazel eyes. He stood approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighed around 141 pounds. At the time he went missing, it is believed he was wearing a black Under Armour sweatsuit and black and purple Nike Air Jordan sneakers. He also has a tattoo on the right side of his neck. It was thought that he might have been riding a bicycle.

Authorities and loved ones were concerned for his well-being as the days turned into weeks. He was known to frequent several areas in Camden, including Whitman Park, East Camden, North Camden, the Crestbury Apartments, and the vicinity of 3rd and Mount Vernon streets. The circumstances surrounding his sudden disappearance remained unclear, leaving a void in the lives of those who knew him.
