On March 6, 2025, Alaska Wildlife Troopers received a report that a side-by-side all-terrain vehicle carrying five adults broke through the ice on the Susitna River around 8:45 a.m. The group was traveling to a job site on Point MacKenzie, approximately 90 miles north of Anchorage. Three individuals managed to escape the freezing waters, but two were reported to have gone under the ice and were swept away by the current.
