On December 1, 2024, Travis Kapp, along with four other crew members, went missing after the fishing vessel _Wind Walker_, a 52-foot Sitka-based seiner, capsized near Point Couverden, Alaska. The crew had called in a mayday to the Coast Guard Sector Southeast Alaska watchstanders at 12:10 a.m., reporting that the vessel was "overturning".
