In the summer of 2024, a family's life was irrevocably altered when 41-year-old Clyde Holmes vanished from his home in Little Rock, Arkansas. Also known as Clyde Boatwright Jr., he was last seen on July 10th. On that day, he left his residence without notice, leaving behind a community and family who would soon be consumed with worry. The case took a perplexing turn the very next day, July 11, 2024. Far from his home, Mr. Holmes's pickup truck was discovered abandoned on a county road off Highway 74 East, between the towns of Jasper and Piercetown. The truck had last been known to be in Little Rock just before 12:30 a.m. that morning and was spotted on the Newton County road at approximately 5 a.m. Authorities who located the vehicle found it locked, and nothing appeared to be amiss, aside from its strange and isolated location. The discovery was particularly baffling as Mr. Holmes had no known connections to Newton County, leaving investigators and his loved ones to wonder what could have possibly led him there.
The discovery of the truck prompted a collaborative investigation between the Little Rock Police Department and the Newton County Sheriff's Office. Concerned for his safety, authorities initiated search efforts in the area where the vehicle was found, employing specialized K-9 teams and trained ground search crews to scour the surrounding landscape. Sheriff Glenn Wheeler of Newton County expressed the deep concern felt by Mr. Holmes's family, who were described as rightfully worried. Sadly, the extensive search for Mr. Holmes concluded with the confirmation that he was located deceased.
