Elizabeth Ann Campbell, a 20-year-old student from Copperas Cove, Texas, disappeared on April 25, 1988, after a night of distressing events. Elizabeth was attending Central Texas College and worked at a 7-Eleven in Killeen. That evening, after a study session at her boyfriend's house, an argument broke out, and she left on foot. Witnesses later reported that she used a payphone at a 7-Eleven in Copperas Cove, where she tried calling both her boyfriend and her brother for a ride.
However, after another argument with her boyfriend, she chose not to complete the call to her brother. She was last seen getting into a vehicle, which witnesses described as white or silver with a maroon vinyl top.
Her disappearance led to an extensive search. Unfortunately, the police did not take a missing persons report until 72 hours later due to her being an adult. Elizabeth's family searched for her on their own during that critical time. Four years later, in 1992, her purse was mysteriously found in Ozona, Texas, about 230 miles away, but it provided no new leads.
Elizabeth had been preparing to transfer to Texas A&M University to study marine biology, and she was described as a trusting and naive young woman, unaware of potential dangers. Despite multiple reported sightings and the discovery of her purse, the case remains unsolved, with foul play suspected.
