Jennifer Lynn Pentilla, an 18-year-old from Montana, disappeared on October 17, 1991, while biking through Deming, New Mexico, during a solo journey. She was on her way to join a missionary group in Mexico but decided to alter her plans after hearing concerns about safety for a woman traveling alone. On the morning of her disappearance, Jennifer called her mother from a Shell gas station in Deming, informing her that she might head to Minnesota to visit a friend instead of continuing to Mexico.
She promised to call back later that day to confirm her plans, but that call never came.
In the following year, Jennifer's camping gear, bicycle helmet, and journal were discovered by hunters in a remote area near Hatch, New Mexico, about 46 miles from Deming. Despite these findings, neither Jennifer nor her bike have ever been located. Several leads emerged, including sightings of her with a man named Jesus Vasquez on the day she vanished. Additionally, another local man, Henry Apodaca, allegedly bragged about abducting her, but neither was ever charged.
