Later that night, she had a routine phone call with her father. A neighbor later reported hearing Laresha arguing with an unidentified man outside her home that same evening. It was the last time anyone is known to have seen or heard from her. When Laresha failed to pick up her son or make contact the following day, her sister went to her duplex to check on her. The scene she found was unsettling; the lights were on and music was playing loudly, but Laresha was gone. After turning down the music and leaving, the family's concern grew, and by November 21, with still no word from Laresha, they contacted the police. Investigators found Laresha's personal belongings, including her purse and essential heart medication, inside her home. The clothes she had been wearing on the day she vanished were also found, suggesting she had returned home at some point. Her car, a maroon 1995 Oldsmobile Achieva with Tennessee license plate 419-ABG, was also missing and has never been located. The vehicle was distinctive, with a long scratch on the driver's side. The investigation into Laresha Walker's disappearance has continued for years, but definitive answers remain elusive. Police have stated they believe she was likely abducted, pointing to the undisturbed state of her home as evidence that she did not leave willingly. Her family has emphasized that she was a devoted mother who would never have abandoned her son. The case is complicated by a later, separate tragedy that befell the family; seventeen years after Laresha vanished, her mother, Wanda Faye Walker, also disappeared under suspicious circumstances and remains missing. While authorities have not found any evidence to connect the two cases, the double loss has been an unimaginable burden for the Walker family.
