Riley Floyd Thomas, a 76-year-old retired correctional officer from Lufkin, Texas, was last seen on January 31, 2000. According to his son, Richard Thomas, Riley was dropped off at a bus station in Lufkin with plans to travel to Houston, where he would transfer buses to Port Arthur. However, Riley never arrived at his intended destination, and there has been no contact from him since.
Riley was homebound due to medical conditions, including Parkinson's disease and congestive heart failure. His ex-daughter-in-law reported him missing over two months later, on April 6, 2000. Suspicion quickly fell on Richard Thomas, who was later convicted of forging checks from his father's bank account. Around the time of Riley’s disappearance, Richard had moved to Oklahoma, further raising concerns about his involvement. Though foul play is suspected, and Riley is presumed deceased, his body has never been found.
