Michael Phillip Proctor, a 45-year-old man originally from Moulton, Alabama, was last seen on July 13, 2001, at the Lake Houmas Inn in Houma, Louisiana, where he had been residing. Proctor had relocated to Louisiana in 2000 after securing a job in an offshore oil field. Despite suffering an injury, he chose to remain in Houma, captivated by the local wildlife and spending time in the area's swamps.
