In the autumn of 2001, on October 30th, an 85-year-old man named Lee Roy Butler, also known as Reverend, vanished while on his way home to Memphis, Tennessee. He was a Black / African American male, standing at 6 feet tall and weighing around 190 pounds. At the time of his disappearance, he had graying hair and brown eyes. He was well-dressed in a grey wool suit, a lavender shirt with a matching tie, and black "Stacy Adams" shoes with black socks. He also wore several pieces of jewelry: a gold wedding band with diamonds, a plain gold band, a white gold "Masonic" ring with a diamond, and a gold watch. Concerns were raised about his well-being as he may have been experiencing the early stages of Alzheimer's disease, which could have caused him to become disoriented. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance are unsettling. While traveling home from Arkansas, he spoke with his wife on the phone and allegedly sounded disoriented. His cell phone records later placed him near Birmingham, Alabama, adding another layer of mystery to his route. Two days after he was reported missing, his vehicle was discovered abandoned and stuck in a field in Bolivar, Tennessee. There has been no contact with him since. Despite the passage of time, the case of Reverend Lee Roy Butler remains unsolved. Law enforcement has had few leads to follow over the years. His family continues to hold out hope for answers and closure regarding the fate of their loved one.
