On a late November day in 2001, 24-year-old Cedric Lee Wright, a Black / African American male, vanished from the Bristow, Oklahoma area, leaving behind a life and a family that continues to seek answers. Cedric, who stood around 5'9" and weighed approximately 200 pounds, was a young man with distinctive features, including a pierced left ear where he possibly wore a gold nugget or a dollar sign earring. He also had a faded tattoo on his upper right arm of the word "C-Dog" with the small initials "W.S." and may have been wearing a silver chain with a pendant depicting Jesus carrying the cross. His black hair and black eyes were a familiar sight to those who knew him. The circumstances of his disappearance began at an acquaintance's home near Highway 48, about 10 miles outside of Bristow. According to the individuals at the residence, Cedric mentioned he was leaving town for a couple of days. He asked to leave his vehicle at their house and was reportedly last seen getting into a white extended cab pickup truck with dark tinted windows. Two unknown individuals were said to be in the truck with him. Puzzlingly, Cedric left behind his cell phone, coat, and keys inside his own car, items one would typically take on a trip. This detail has raised numerous questions for his family and the investigators from the Okfuskee County Sheriff's Office and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation who have looked into his case. The lack of these essential belongings suggests his departure may not have been as planned or voluntary as the initial account might imply. The investigation into Cedric Wright's disappearance has been long and fraught with uncertainty. Despite the passage of years, his case remains open, and the identity of the two individuals in the white pickup truck is still unknown. The official narrative of him leaving willingly for a few days has been difficult for his loved ones to accept, especially given that he has not been seen or heard from since that day. The case is a collection of unanswered questions and unsettling details. A young man, in the prime of his life, seemingly walks away from everything he knows, leaving behind crucial personal items, and is never heard from again. The mystery of what happened to Cedric Lee Wright after he entered that white truck continues to be a painful and unresolved chapter for his family and community, who hold out hope for closure.
