In the summer of 2005, a 28-year-old mother named Stacy Ann Aragon disappeared from Gilbert, Arizona, leaving behind a life marked by both deep love and profound struggle. On July 20th, Stacy was at her aunt's home, located near Gilbert and Elliot Roads. Between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m., she left the residence with her boyfriend, Steven B. Bishop. The couple reportedly made transactions at an ATM and a dollar store in the area after leaving the house. That was the last confirmed sighting of Stacy Aragon. She was a woman grappling with immense grief, as her ten-year-old son had been tragically killed in a drunk driving accident just four months earlier. Her family noted that she was deeply depressed over his death, spending hours at his grave daily and expressing sentiments of not wanting to go on. At the time of her disappearance, Stacy was also navigating a divorce and a custody battle, did not have a permanent home, and was reportedly associating with people involved with drugs. The investigation into Stacy's disappearance uncovered troubling details. Her burgundy 1986 Subaru station wagon was later found abandoned on a remote hillside west of Lake Pleasant, a location so inaccessible it required a helicopter to reach. Inside the vehicle were some of her personal belongings, including her purse, cell phone, and memorabilia from her recently deceased son's funeral. Another vehicle associated with her, a 1990s pickup truck with faded green paint, remains missing. Her boyfriend, Steven Bishop, who also vanished, had a criminal record and outstanding warrants. He had been released from prison in 2004 after serving time for aggravated assault and had subsequently failed to meet with his parole officer. Despite his history and an abusive relationship with Stacy, some family members do not believe he was involved in her disappearance, suggesting he too could be a victim of foul play. Years have passed without any concrete answers in Stacy Aragon's case, which is described by investigators as suspicious. There have been unverified claims, including a statement from an ex-boyfriend who said he saw her a year after she went missing and told her to contact the police, which she never did. Another individual informed law enforcement that Stacy's name had been on a "hit list" and that she had been murdered. Despite the heart-wrenching circumstances and the passage of time, her family has continued to hold out hope and actively seeks to keep her story alive in the public eye. They do not believe she would have willingly abandoned her surviving children. Her sister-in-law made a promise to Stacy's mother before she passed away to never give up the search. The case remains an unsolved and haunting mystery for the Gilbert community and all who knew and loved Stacy.
