Despite his efforts to convince her to stay, she shared her plan to run away, and he left her alone. This was the last confirmed sighting of Diane.
Diane was 5'2" tall, weighed 110 pounds, and had brown hair and hazel eyes. She also had a scar on her chin and a previous fracture on her left forearm. She was wearing light blue corduroy pants and a blue shirt at the time of her disappearance.
Over the years, there were unconfirmed sightings of Diane. Notably, in December 1981, a friend reported seeing her at a mall about 50 miles away from San Jose. According to the witness, Diane indicated she did not plan to return home and did not want her location known.
For years, there was speculation that Diane might be connected to the "Princess Doe" case, an unidentified body found in New Jersey in 1982. However, comparisons of dental records were inconclusive, and Diane was eventually ruled out as a match when Princess Doe was identified in 2022 as Dawn Olanick.
