Anthonette Cayedito Missing Person Case

Anthonette Cayedito, a 9-year-old girl from Gallup, New Mexico, went missing in the early morning hours of April 6, 1986. According to her mother, Penny, Anthonette was last seen in their home when she went to bed the night before. At around 3 a.m., there was a knock on the door. Penny stated that Anthonette answered it, and when the door was opened, two men forcibly abducted her. Witnesses later recalled that Anthonette called out to her mother as she was taken. Penny did not immediately hear her daughter's cries, and it wasn't until the next morning that Anthonette was reported missing.

Years later, a disturbing development occurred when a young girl, believed to be Anthonette, placed a call to the Gallup police in 1987. The girl identified herself as Anthonette and begged for help before the line was cut. Despite this, no new leads emerged from the call. In 1991, another potential lead surfaced when a waitress in Carson City, Nevada, encountered a girl matching Anthonette’s description. The girl reportedly left a note under a plate that read "Help me," but authorities were unable to track her down.

Anthonette’s case remains unsolved. Despite the efforts of local law enforcement and the FBI, no conclusive evidence has been found to locate her. Theories about her abduction range from familial involvement to being taken by someone she knew. Over the years, Anthonette's family has continued to seek answers, hoping for closure in a case that has haunted the Gallup community for decades.
