Randy Charles Spring, a 28-year-old Army veteran, went missing on October 10, 1988, from White Water, California. That morning, he was dropped off by a family member at the intersection of Tipton Road and White Water Road near Interstate 10. Randy mentioned he planned to go hiking and camping in the San Jacinto Mountains for a few days and would either hitchhike home or call for a ride. He was last seen wearing camouflage pants, a blue t-shirt, and an army-green jacket. He also carried an army-green backpack with some food supplies.
There was a possible sighting of Randy at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains around noon on the same day, but he has not been seen since. Despite extensive searches by law enforcement and volunteers, no trace of him has been found. Randy was well-trained in survival techniques, having served in the U.S. Army. At the time of his disappearance, he was working for the California Department of Forestry and had recently completed training to pursue a career as a firefighter.
The case remains unsolved, and Randy's family continues to seek answers. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
