Hoyle Smith, 79, was last seen at his residence in Sanford, North Carolina, on November 4, 1995. His girlfriend, Margie Shaw Boone, visited him that day, and both went missing shortly thereafter. Concern arose when a friend discovered bloodstains and signs of a struggle inside Smith's home. Additionally, Smith's car was found abandoned at a bar in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
