James Scavone, a 22-year-old from Meriden, Connecticut, disappeared in the early hours of July 5, 1999, while aboard the Carnival cruise ship *Destiny*. He had recently graduated from Western Connecticut State University with a degree in economics and was celebrating with a group of friends and family on a seven-day Caribbean cruise.
