At the time of his disappearance, Holbrook lived in the 2300 block of N Street in Omaha and was known to frequent the South Omaha area. Despite being reported missing in January 2001, Holbrook was last seen sometime earlier in the year 2000. He mentioned to his family that he was planning a trip to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, although he did not own a vehicle.

Holbrook was a familiar figure in the South Omaha community, particularly around the Missouri River, where he enjoyed fishing near the South Omaha Bridge. Described as 5'10" with gray hair, blue eyes, and glasses, Holbrook’s disappearance puzzled investigators, and to date, no substantial leads have emerged regarding his whereabouts. His case remains open, with the Omaha Police Department continuing to seek information that could lead to a resolution.
