Patricia Ann Adkins, known to her loved ones as Patti, was a 29-year-old mother who seemingly vanished after a late-night shift at her job. On June 29, 2001, she clocked out of the Honda of America automotive plant in Marysville, Ohio, just after midnight. She was reportedly looking forward to a week-long vacation, a romantic getaway to Canada with a man she was seeing. She was last seen wearing her all-white Honda uniform with her name "Patti" on a patch, and steel-toed tennis shoes. Adkins left her car at home and reportedly got a ride to work with a friend that day. After her shift ended, she was never seen or heard from again. Her family grew concerned when she failed to pick up her seven-year-old daughter as planned and officially reported her missing on July 8, 2001. The investigation into Patti's disappearance soon uncovered a secret relationship with a married co-worker. This man was the person she had planned to go on vacation with. When questioned by both Patti's sister and law enforcement, he denied having a relationship with her and claimed he had no plans to go on vacation. According to reports, Adkins had told friends and family that she had given her boyfriend a significant amount of money, which she raised by liquidating her 401k, selling stock, and taking out a second mortgage on her home. The man she was involved with reportedly failed a polygraph test regarding her disappearance and quit his job at the Honda plant shortly after she went missing. Investigators found items at his home that Adkins had told others she had given him, which contradicted his claim that they were merely acquaintances. Despite extensive investigation over the years, Patti Adkins' case remains unsolved, and foul play is suspected. Her financial accounts and personal records have shown no activity since the day she disappeared. In 2006, Patricia Adkins was declared legally dead by the courts. The Union County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate her disappearance as an unsolved cold case and encourages anyone with information to come forward. The case is a heart-wrenching mystery of a devoted mother who left work one night and never returned, leaving behind a daughter and a family still searching for answers and justice. The prevailing belief among her loved ones and authorities is that she was the victim of a homicide.
