Vicky Lynn, a 54-year-old woman from Alamogordo, New Mexico, was last seen on September 24, 2004. On that morning, she informed her husband that she was going for a walk, and he reminded her to take her cell phone. Although she took the phone, it was never turned on. Her husband tried calling her multiple times throughout the day, but she never responded. When he returned home that evening, Vicky was missing.
She left behind her purse, money, and identification, but may have carried a water bottle with her.
There were potential sightings of Vicky walking along U.S. Highway 82 on the day she disappeared, though these have not been confirmed. Vicky, who had been struggling with worsening depression and was off her medication at the time, may have become disoriented, according to her family. Her history of mental health struggles led authorities to believe that she might have wandered off. The search efforts, which involved hundreds of volunteers and law enforcement, focused on remote areas around Alamogordo, where she used to walk regularly. Despite these efforts, no trace of her has been found.
In 2005, investigators sought information about a light blue Chevrolet pickup truck seen near the area where Vicky disappeared. Although this vehicle has not been definitively linked to her case, authorities were eager to identify the driver.
