That day, Austin left his sister's home and took a taxi to Jax Jewelry and Pawn Shop, where he purchased a shotgun. He was last seen walking away from the shop with the gun in a duffle bag at the intersection of 103rd Street and Blanding Boulevard.
His family became concerned as he left behind personal possessions, including a laptop, and there has been no activity on his bank accounts or cell phone since his disappearance.
Austin had recently faced legal trouble, having been arrested two weeks prior for marijuana possession and driving with a suspended license. Despite his depression and the circumstances around his disappearance, his family remains baffled by the purchase of the shotgun, as he was generally opposed to guns.
