Shemika Keyanta Cosey, 16 years old, disappeared on the night of December 29, 2008, while staying at her cousin's home in Berkeley, Missouri. That night, Shemika and her cousin had been watching movies, and between 1:00 and 1:30 a.m., her cousin went to bed, leaving Shemika awake in the living room.
